Dr. Bret Johnson, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon with years of experience in eyelid surgery. His meticulous approach ensures natural-looking results that enhance your facial harmony.
Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery or an eyelid lift, is a procedure that improves the appearance of the eyelids by reducing bagginess from the lower eyelids and removing excess skin from the upper eyelids. This surgery is often performed for cosmetic reasons, but it can also improve the field of vision in people whose sagging upper eyelids obstruct their visual field.
Eyelid surgery eliminates excess skin and fat, reducing signs of aging for a brighter look.
Lifting sagging upper eyelids can enhance your peripheral vision and overall eye comfort.
Unlike temporary treatments, blepharoplasty provides lasting rejuvenation with minimal maintenance.
Our advanced surgical techniques ensure a smooth recovery and discreet, well-hidden incisions.
Upper blepharoplasty alone can be performed under local anesthetic alone in the office. Lower blepharoplasty or both upper and lower blepharoplasty will be performed in the operating room under IV sedation or general anesthesia to ensure patient comfort.
Incisions are hidden in the natural lines of the eyelids, such as the creases of the upper lids and below the lashes of the lower lids. This creates a final incision closure that is well hidden. Additional hidden incisions on the inside of the lower eyelid are made for lower blepharoplasty.
Through the incisions, any excess skin or fat of the eyelids is removed.
The upper blepharoplasty incision is closed with a pull-through suture that will be removed in the office. The lower blepharoplasty incisions are closed with tiny absorbable sutures.
Blepharoplasty can be combined with other facial rejuvenation surgeries such as browlift, facelift, or necklift for a total facial rejuvenation. Also, for patients with poor skin texture or crepe-like skin of the lower eyelids, laser therapy is a helpful adjunct to create skin with a smoother texture.
Following blepharoplasty surgery, patients are able to go home following the procedure. Detailed post-operative care instructions will be provided. Discomfort is minimal. Most patients are back to their normal daily activities within 1 week following surgery although it is important to avoid strenuous activities for several weeks to allow for full healing.
Following surgery, the results will be immediately noticeable. Most swelling and bruising will subside over the next 1-2 weeks but the final result will only improve with additional time.
Pricing will vary depending on the exact surgical approach for your procedure. However the typical price range is between $4,000-$6,000.
